Grimace is a quartet, playing instrumental jazz, funk, rock. The band features Shaun Gilmour on drums, Justin Brown on bass, Don Roehlich on saxophone and Rob Carey on guitar. High energy improvisation is the group’s trademark. Each show the band displays unmatched chops and musicianship while exploring new musical terrain. In addition to original material, Grimace plays arrangements of music written by James Brown, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, John Scofield and the Meters. Each show features straight ahead jazz tunes, as well. Grimace has preformed at many of the top venues in Pittsburgh, including the Thunderbird Café, the Shadow Lounge, the Pittsburgh Deli Co, Cozumel and the Walnut Grill. The band was a featured performer at LumberJam II and the Jam for the South. Grimace received national recognition in 2005 when the band made the Staff Pick list on the Audio Archive, along side such acts as the Radiators and Cracker. Thank you for your interest in our music.
